Grade 4 marks the beginning of the intermediate phase at our school, serving as a vital transition between the primary years and the more challenging upper grades. While academics remain a strong focus, our program goes beyond by emphasizing essential life skills such as respect, accountability, responsibility, conflict resolution strategies, time management, and effective communication. These skills form the foundation for students to successfully apply their academic knowledge in future years.
Central to our educational approach is the integration of faith into every aspect of the curriculum. We aim to nurture a sense of moral responsibility and guide our students in becoming compassionate leaders who embody the principles of faith in action. In Grade 4, students deepen their understanding of the 10 Commandments and how these teachings shape our everyday decisions. They also explore the 7 Sacraments as foundational moments in their spiritual journey. Additionally, students begin to develop the skills to read the Bible, understanding its significance as a guide for living a life of faith.
Building on the reading fluency developed in the primary years, Grade 4 students begin to explore deeper insights through critical thinking, making inferences, and distinguishing between literal and figurative meanings. Students also discover the power of figurative language which can be used to enhance their writing, extending the creativity and complexity in their communication. By continuing to develop their digital literacy through the digital workflow they began in Grade 3, they become further prepared for our technology-driven world, while at the same equipping them with social and emotional skills to support their personal growth as they move through their intermediate years.
