School Uniform Policy

All students attending Our Lady of Mercy School are expected to wear the complete school uniform at all times. The summer uniform is optional and may only be worn from the beginning of the school year until October 1 and then again from June 1 to the end of the school year. If, at any time, a student is unable to wear a uniform, a note explaining the reason must be submitted to the classroom teacher in advance. In addition to your child’s uniform, please ensure that your child has a pair of proper running shoes, which can stay at school, a proper lunch kit/box/bag, and a backpack which they can bring to school each day.

Uniform Non-compliance
Parents of primary (Grades K-3) students out of uniform will be sent a note indicating the nature of
the problem(s) and the expected date for remediation. Intermediate students (Grades 4-7) will be
notified directly by the principal or other staff member of their uniform infraction in addition to
having a note sent home to parents. The signed note must be returned to ensure it has been received.
If this responsibility is not met, or if there are repeated incidents of non-compliance, a meeting with
the parents is mandatory.
If the Principal deems any student’s appearance to be distracting to others and the learning
environment then it does not meet this policy and the family must remedy the student’s appearance
as soon as possible.
