Our Lady of Mercy (OLM) School operates under the authority of the Catholic Independent Schools of Vancouver Archdiocese (CISVA), a recognized member of the Independent Schools branch of the BC Ministry of Education. These are the organizations that set the curriculum and policies that govern OLM School.
The Parish Education Committee (PEC) is the local representative of the Board of Directors of the CISVA. Its duty is to oversee the general operation of the school along with the pastor and the school principal and to carry out the policies of the Board of Directors of the CISVA.
The PEC is composed of seven members. Five are elected and two are appointed by the Pastor. Meetings are generally held every third Wednesday of the month.
Requests by non-members to speak at these meetings, except for in-camera sessions must be done in writing and received seven (7) days in advance of the scheduled meeting.
