Our Lady of Mercy School – Walkathon 2020

We are excited to launch this year’s walkathon fundraising campaign!

We are currently living in unprecedented times with the COVID19 outbreak. Out of concern for everyone’s health and safety, OLM School will not be physically hosting the walkathon event. However, we will be together in spirit on June 5, 2020! Details of walkathon day virtual events will be announced in the coming weeks.

This year, we will only be doing online fundraising through our Walkathon Online Donation Page.

Click the image on the left to read instructions for donating online.

Please do not forget to indicate the student’s name in the recipient message entry when making a donation.

80% of the total amount per student will be credited towards the student’s fundraising commitment fee

Thank you!

When your child will be away from school, it is Ministry mandated to call or email the office before 9:00am to report the absence, please also cc your child’s teacher. If you email to report the absence, you do not need to send a written note when your child returns as the email notification is sufficient.  If you call to report the absence, please send a note listing the dates and reason for the absence.

Parking

Parking at the front of the school is for staff only. There is no parking, drop-off or pick-up at the front door between 7:45am – 3:30pm. If you are coming in to volunteer or to pick up or drop off your child, please make sure to park in the designated area between the church and school. Thank you for your cooperation.

Student Drop Off Procedures
Listed below are procedures that should be followed when dropping your child off at school:

1.  Be extremely cautious and patient.
2.  Follow directions of playground supervisors on duty. Be respectful of the supervisors.
3.  Pull as far forward along the drop off area as possible before stopping your vehicle.
4.  Allow room for as many vehicles as possible to pull in behind you.
5.  After stopping, be certain it is safe for your child to exit your vehicle on the passenger side only.
6.  Say you’re goodbye’s before your turn to unload. Traffic will move more quickly for everyone.

7.  Never leave your vehicle unattended in the Student Drop Off area.

West Coast Recess

Living in a rain forest offers many diverse weather conditions. It makes sense therefore, we are well prepared to be outside in the rain.  It is important for children to get outside throughout the day for fresh air and exercise. Research has proven time and time again, the impact that physical activity has on learning. For this reason, many local schools and districts are adopting a West Coast Recess. Our Lady of Mercy School will be implementing the West Coast Recess effective Monday, September 23, 2019.  Please see the attachments for further information.

Please Do Not Combine Different Payments Together

Be mindful when handing in forms/payments to the school. We have several forms/payments coming in from our students various times of the year. If sending different forms/payments (ie. Hot lunch, skating, etc.) please ensure to hand in each form/payment in separate envelopes or baggies, clearly indicating what it is for.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Skating / Autumn Colour Day

Students in Grades 2, 5, and 6 have skating on Tuesday, September 17th.  Students in all other grades are permitted to dress in autumn colours as long as they bring a toonie donation to school next Tuesday.
